USPS - United States Postal Service is a courier service that specializes in handling individual packages (single- package shipments), operating domestically within the United States, as well as internationally shipping from the US.

In this article we will show how to connect this courier and some important details about the functions it supports

How to connect it in Outvio ☑️

  1. Connect your USPS credentials:

From your Outvio account, go to Settings -> My couriers and select USPS:

Enter the USPS credentials for your account correspondingly in the following fields and click on Confirm Credentials:

    • If you don't have your credentials, contact your USPS account manager and request USPS credentials for webservices.

2. Add your Shipping methods:

Go to the Shipping methods section and click on +Add shipping method

Select the service you will be using with USPS and click save

  • You can also add more methods and Upload rates for each service:

  • Later you can check your rates by clicking on View Rates or by accessing them from the main Couriers page under Rates:

  • Note: This step is optional, but it will allow you to compare the shipping prices within the couriers and see the rate for the shipment before shipping the order.

Click HERE to see how to fill in the shipping rates file.

3. Configure your United States Postal Service settings:

Here you can activate automatic pickups that will be generated once a shipment is processed, as well as enter your License, AES ITN and Certificate Numbers to be able to ship internationally with USPS:

  • You can also choose to display your cms order ID instead of the order OTN (Outvio Reference number) in the labels.

If you scroll further, you will also find your Alias Settings where you can set an Alias to distinguish your configurations if you have multiple contracts connected with USPS

4. Configure your Assigned warehouses

Assign/remove the warehouses you wish to use for the courier:

5. Configure any Surcharges (if needed)

In this section the following options can be applied for all shipping methods:

  • Rate calculation

  • Cash on delivery (not yet available)

  • Insurance

  • Remote zone

  • Weight surcharge

  • Dimensions surcharge

  • Export duties

  • Fuel surcharge

These surcharges depend on your courier and you can add them based on your agreed terms with the courier. That way Outvio will apply most of them for rate calculation, so that the system can decide which courier is the cheapest option for you.

❗️Things to note:

  • For 100% accuracy, you need to upload your shipping rates in the Shipping methods section

  • It is your responsibility to add the surcharges correctly, as well as update them if necessary if they change over time.

  • Fill out only those surcharges that apply to your contract.

Here you can also select your currency (this is useful if you use invoice checking feature)
