IMPORTANT:

In order to be able to use the Picking with baskets feature you have to be on the Conquer plan or higher. Picking Lists and Scan & Pack functionalities have to be enabled.

Why you should use Picking with baskets?

The Scan & Pack feature enables you to pick and pack your products easily, especially if you have only one item per order to ship. With multi-product orders, on the other hand, it can become complicated:

  • if you scan an item that is in a multi-product order then you need to find all the items right away to close the package. It becomes especially a problem if you have a big pile of products. It can take extra time to find all other items belonging to the same order.

That is where the Picking with baskets feature comes in handy. It means that you have an X amount of separate baskets that are numbered so you can already separate the multi-product orders during the picking process. Our system will notify you if the item is from a multi-product order and that you need to put it in basket Y where other items from this specific order are also being placed.

For example if you have five baskets - one of them could be for all single-product orders and the other four could be for four separate multi-product orders. That way you can pick all the items simultaneously, and during the packing process everything will already be sorted correctly.

So, let us see how you set up Picking with baskets in Outvio:

STEP 1. Enable Picking with baskets in the Shop Settings .

Go to "Shop Settings", enable "Scan & Pack", and tick the "Enable picking with baskets" checkbox. You will also have to set the amount of baskets per picking list (Value must be between 1 and 500) as well as the amount of products per basket (Value must be between 1 and 100).

STEP 2. Select orders and create picking lists.

Outvio will generate picking lists and assign each product to a basket. Single-product orders will fill up single product picking lists up to the maximum capacity. Multi-product orders will fill up multi product picking lists. Keep in mind that since Scan & Pack does not support reverse orders, they cannot be processed via picking lists.

Please note:

If an order has more products than what would fit into [baskets x basket capacity], then it cannot be added to a picking list.

STEP 3. Process the picking lists.

Now you can start picking the items, either by selecting the stock manually or scanning the product. Each product group will start with stock set to zero. When using a scanner, each scan adds one to the stock of the product. Either way, Outvio will show a pop-up telling you which basket(s) the product(s) need to be placed in.

STEP 4. Scan & Pack your orders.

In the Shipping Queue the Scan & Pack panel will show all unprocessed picking lists (picking lists that have at least one order in the shipping queue). Now you can start with Scan & Pack by selecting a picking list. By hovering over the picking list you will see if it is a single-product order (one square) or multi-product order (multiple squares).

Outvio will tell you at all times from which basket you will need to pick out a product. Products scanned from other baskets will result in an error, reminding you of the correct basket.

You have also the option to process picking list partially (by skipping an order in Scan & Pack). When you restart Scan & Pack it will call out the next unprocessed basket.

There you have it! All set up, ready to ship!
